To protect the members of the LGBTQI community against social discrimination, Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso signed Manila Ordinance No. 8695 or the Manila LGBTQI Protection Ordinance of 2020 yesterday at the mayor's office.

“Everybody will be treated equally, and respect, understanding, and compassion to one another should be a matter of policy to the city.” Mayor Isko said.

The Local Government Unit of Manila firmly believes that everyone has the right to live without experiencing any form of discrimination, no matter who you are and where you belong in social status.

“Walang mahirap, walang middle class, walang mayaman, walang bakla, walang tomboy, walang lalaki, walang babae. Lahat ay mamamayan nang lungsod ng maynila. Sa Manila pantay-pantay.” he added.

During the signing of the ordinance, Mayor Isko assured the LGBTQI community in Manila that they will receive no harm while he is in office and will not tolerate anybody who discriminates against them because everyone is equal in the eyes of his governance.

After the ordinance was signed, Mayor Isko switched his black mask to a rainbow mask, signifying his strong support towards the LGBTQI community.

“Mga bakla, lakasan niyo ang panalangin na matapos na ang pandemic dahil rarampa tayo sa Manila.” Mayor Isko stated.
