Infra damage due to 'Ulysses' hits P5.7B -- NDRRMC

Typhoon Ulysses costed infrastructure damage worth P5,773,137,751.28, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Wednesday.
NDRRMC reported the damages in Regions I, II, III, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, V, CAR, and NCR.
The strong typhoon that struck Luzon last week affected over a number of three million individuals and destroyed 63,885 residences.
The damage to the Department of Agriculture (DA) has reached P3.84 billion, with 104, 733 farmers and fisherfolk and 101,904 hectares of agricultural areas affected.
73 deaths, 24 wounded individuals, and 19 missing people were recorded on the casualties.
On the other side, a sum of P75,460,593.84 assistance was already provided to the typhoon victims, NDRRMC said.
Moreover, President Rodrigo Duterte has placed the entire Luzon under a state of calamity after ravaging storms hit the country in the previous weeks.
The Quick Response Fund or stand-by fund of the areas under a state of calamity may be utilized for relief and recovery programs to normalize the areas stricken by disaster, calamities, epidemics, or complex emergencies.
Per the Republic Act 7581, there shall be no price increase among basic commodities.
