Filipino animation short 'Ang Lihim ni Lea' wins international film awards



The Filipino film adaptation of 'Ang Lihim ni Lea' gained nine international awards and is an official selection at the Cannes International Independent Film Festival.


On her recent Instagram post, Eugene Dominggo wrote that she felt "honored" to be part of 'Ang Lihim ni Lea' as a narrator, which was also starred by Alessandra de Rossi and comedienne Candy Pangilinan.


The film won a total of nine international awards, including Best Original Story and Grand Jury Award for Animation at the New York International Film Awards 2020, Best Original Story and Best Main Theme at the Oniros Film Festivals New York 2020, Best Animated Short in the American Golden Picture International Film Festival 2020, Best Children Short at the Independent Shorts Awards and the Indi Short Fest, Best Creative at the Europe Film Festival, and Best Director at the Top Shorts Film Festival 2020.


Furthermore, 'Ang Lihim ni Lea' was chosen to be a part of the official selection at the Cannes International Independent Film Festival, Rome Independent Prisma Awards, Madrid Indie Film Festival, Paris Lift-Off Festival, and the ARFF Barcelona International Awards.


'Ang Lihim ni Lea' or Lea's Secret is a short animated film adaptation of the children's book written by Gawad Balagtas awardee Augie Rivera, produced and directed by Rico Gutierrez that aims to raise awareness against children abuse.
