Cebu City to adjust curfew hours for Misa De Gallo 2020

The Cebu City Government has agreed to adjust the city curfew hours to accommodate the traditional Catholic celebration of Misa de Gallo amid the pandemic.

Mayor Edgardo Labella told reporters in a phone interview that the Catholic Church can go ahead and schedule the dawn masses in Cebu City between 3 AM to 6 AM.

Moreover, Labella will issue an Executive Order on Monday, Dec. 7, 2020, adjusting the six-hour curfew along with other guidelines on the holding of Misa de Gallo in the city.

“I will have this finalized because we have to reconcile this with our curfew hours,” said Labella.

He also added that the health protocols should be taken into consideration for all parishes around the city, the 50 percent capacity limit, and maintaining the social distancing protocol.

Furthermore, the archdiocese proposed to conduct masses in batches: two scheduled masses at night and another two at dawn to prevent overcrowding.

Labella said he is willing to allow this set-up to avoid crowding as churchgoers attend mass in four batches.
